Republican Leaders Endorse Governor Phil Scott
Encourage voters to vote for him in the August 14th Primary Election

Vermont’s Republican leaders, including former Governor Jim Douglas, Lt. Governor Brian Dubie, House Minority Leader and candidate for Lt. Governor Don Turner, all sitting Republican legislators seeking reelection and 11 additional Republican legislators leaving their positions, have endorsed Governor Phil Scott in the upcoming Republican Primary on August 14th.

“I know how hard it is to be governor, and I’m impressed with the job Phil Scott has done,” said Governor Douglas.  “He’s been a strong leader in his efforts to grow the economy and make Vermont more affordable, and we desperately need him to continue this work in Montpelier. I’m proud to support his bid for reelection and I hope you will too.”

Lt. Governor Brian Dubie added, “We are very fortunate to have a governor who has devoted his time in office fighting for working families. Phil is focused on tackling the affordability crisis facing far too many Vermonters. He is the right person to be leading the charge, and I strongly support his reelection.”

House Minority Leader Don Turner said, “After 6 years of one-party rule and out of control spending and taxation, Governor Scott’s strong leadership started to turn the tide. Vermonters are finally able to keep more of what they earn. Working with Republican legislators, we’ve prioritized fiscal restraint, and enacted pro-growth policies that will make Vermont stronger. I look forward to continuing this with him over the next two years.”

All sitting Republican legislators seeking reelection and 11 additional Republican legislators leaving their positions have also thrown their support behind the Governor.

“I’m incredibly grateful to receive the support of these Republican leaders. In addition to being great partners in our fight to make the economy stronger and Vermont more affordable, they are also great friends. We would not have been able to accomplish all we did without them, and I’m grateful for their support,” said Governor Scott.  “I look forward to working with them to build on our progress, and create a more affordable and prosperous Vermont where every community and every family can thrive.”
