Thank a Vet Motorcycle Ride
May 21, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm
In honor of Armed Forces Day on May 21, Vermonters across the state can join Phil Scott at the Thank a Vet Motorcycle Ride in support of veterans’ charities.
The event will be held on Saturday, May 21 with motorcycle rides beginning at 10 a.m. from locations in Rutland, St. Albans, St. Johnsbury, and White River Junction. Riders from all points will converge in downtown Barre at 12 p.m.
Thank a Vet Motorcycle Ride, hosted by Wilkins Harley Davidson, will raise funds for two Vermont veterans’ charities – the Josh Pallotta Fund, dedicated to helping veterans with PTSD, and the Friends of Veterans Organization, which helps veterans to avoid homelessness.
“Supporting our military and returning veterans has always been a cause very near to my heart,” said Scott. “Having seen the impact on my father, a veteran of World War II and a double amputee, I recognize the importance of supporting our servicemen and women in whatever way we can. I’m proud to be part of an event that not only recognizes our veterans, but also raises funds for organizations that provide crucial support services for them.”
Following the motorcycle ride, an event honoring local veterans will take place at the Park on Main Street in Barre at 12 p.m. Attendees will hear remarks from Scott, veteran and Harley-Davidson Motor Company representative George Petropoulos, and more.
The event is open to all, including those without motorcycles, and will include a barbeque immediately following the ceremony. A donation of $10 is requested, and will benefit the Josh Palotta Fund and the Friends of Veterans Organization.
