PUSHING FOR ACTION ON FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

When the House of Representatives’ passed its budget in March, Phil opposed it because it spends beyond our ability to pay, and increases taxes by $48 million. With weeks left in the 2016 Session, Phil has also called on the Senate to produce a responsible budget that limits growth and does not raise taxes and fees on overtaxed Vermonters.

Make no mistake, as Governor Phil will set clear, responsible limits on our budget and eliminate structural deficits that keep recurring year after year. But Vermonter’s shouldn’t have to wait! It’s possible to pass a budget this year that doesn’t raises taxes. It’s time to get back on solid ground, and start growing again.

CHECKING IN WITH BENNINGTON

The water contamination issues in Vermont continue to be a top concern for Phil, and the entire state. Phil attended a public meeting held in Bennington this week, where the state announced that Saint-Gobain – the owner of the former facility that’s been identified as the potential source of the contamination – will fund important feasibility and cost-assessment studies in the region. Action to help the Bennington community is critical, and as Phil has said, a Phil Scott Administration will “prioritize clean water for drinking and habitat protection.” Read more about the meeting and the engineering studies in the Bennington Banner. ICYMI: PHIL IN THE NEWS

Phil: Proud to work with fellow Vermonters to raise money for children living in poverty

“The Stratton Foundation deserves a gold medal for putting on this year’s events, raising thousands toward that mission [to help children living in poverty]. Capping it all off with the Taste of Vermont was the icing on the cake – or the maple syrup on the pancakes, in Vermont terms. From start to finish, these 24 hours were about Vermonters working together to help our local children in need, all while appreciating what our beautiful state has to offer.” (Source: Manchester Journal: Full Story)

Phil connects with future leaders at Middlebury College Republicans event

“The event served as an opportunity for the College Republicans to interact with like-minded students and party leaders from across Vermont.” (Source: VT Digger: Full Story)
